Thanks Charles. I think you nailed it with “that missing thing seems to be missing everywhere”. I do think it relates to money, unfortunately. Things have never been easy for art/artists, but the cost of living is suffocating now. And just overall, consumerism is taking over people’s mindsets. I think the only answer is to do the work, as best you can, and find solidarity with others. Sometimes magic can happen. For Czech photography, Josef Koudelka is a long-time hero. Also others like Karel Cudlin, Vojta Dukat, Bohdan Holomicek, Tomki Nemec, Viktor Kolar, and a cool new-ish Prague collective called ASA400. Many of them are somewhat older, like warriors of an ancient craft :). Some younger disciples too, Prague has a great photo school called FAMU.
